Join us this Reconciliation Week as we continue to push for a Truth-Telling and Justice Commission in Western Australia!

You may remember that in January I initiated a campaign calling for a Truth-Telling and Justice Commission in WA, similar to the Yoorrook Justice Commission in Victoria. You can watch the YouTube video here.

The McGowan government is developing its own truth-telling strategy. We are calling on them to adopt our recommendations for an independent, statutory Truth-Telling and Justice Commission, with the powers of a Royal Commission.

It’s time WA follows the lead of other states and territories in advancing Makarrata, and recognises the devastating effects of colonisation on our communities. Truth-telling can be a unifying, healing and positive force for our entire community.

That’s why this Reconciliation Week, in line with this year's theme “Be a Voice for Generations”, I will be hosting a First Nations Solidarity March. This will be a chance to show your solidarity and support for this important process for justice and healing. Through truth-telling and truth-listening we can face past traumas and move towards meaningful reconciliation.

The day will begin at Elizabeth Quay before making our way to the Supreme Court Gardens. If you’re unable to march, that’s completely fine, there will be several other ways to show your support.

Register now and show your support and recognition for the oldest continuous culture in the world!
