Enjoy SE Qld habitats with a bushwalk with your fellow Greens!

Join your fellow Greens for a friendly get together and walk through the Boondall Wetlands along the Billai dhagun Circuit – 2 km (1 hour), which starts from the informative Boondall Wetlands Environment Centre, and is an all encompassing snapshot of wetlands life.

Making its way though forests of wispy casuarinas, rust coloured marshlands, mangroves, salt flats and paperbark tea trees with a brief detour to a bird hide overlooking Cabbage Tree Creek, the circuit is also dotted with indigenous totems relating to local flora and fauna by artist Ron Hurley.

Keep your eyes peeled for your organisers in Green Shirts at the entrance to the Boondall Wetlands Environment Centre (where there is parking available). We'll meet at 8am for an 8:15 start - registrations are essential so we know how many to expect!

Trail notes:
The walk is rated as easy, with a mostly flat surface, making it suitable for all fitness levels. It is also wheelchair friendly, though some assistance may be required in certain spots.

The track is dog friendly on leads, but please be responsible for your pet and be aware that other people may also bring dogs along.

The Environment Centre at the beginning of the trail is open 8.30am–4pm daily, except public holidays. There are toilets and water taps for public use.

Getting there:
By car: A 30 minute drive from the CBD, the wetlands lie on the edge of Moreton Bay. From the Gateway Motorway (M1) take the Boondall exit at Paperbark Drive. The Boondall Wetlands is on the eastern side of the highway.

By bike: The Boondall Wetlands Bikeway extends from the Brisbane Entertainment Centre to Nudgee Beach. It’s a 13-kilometre return journey. You can also ride on the Gateway Upgrade North bikeway or link these tracks to bikeways outside the wetlands. Plan your ride using
Brisbane City Council’s bike paths map.

Public transport to this destination is challenging: Boondall train station is a 25 minute walk away, including needing to navigate crossing the Gateway motorway.

What to bring:
Hat, waterbottle, sunscreen, insect repellent

If you are under 18, your parent or guardian will need to contact the event organiser directly to let them know there will be someone under 18 attending.
