The Multicultural Greens, Jewish Greens and Young Greens invite you to join us for a screening of the 2023 documentary ‘Israelism’, followed by a panel discussion of Australian Jewish speakers.
‘Israelism’ follows young American Jews raised to unconditionally love Israel, whose lives are transformed upon witnessing Israel’s brutal treatment of Palestinians. They join a growing movement redefining Judaism’s relationship with Israel, revealing a deepening generational divide over modern Jewish identity. The film explores how Jewish attitudes towards Israel are changing, with significant consequences for the region and for Judaism itself. It captures a ‘moral and spiritual awakening’ of young Jewish people to advocate for Palestinian freedom.
Our panel of Jewish speakers including Sarah Schwartz, Executive Officer at the Jewish Council of Australia, Hannah Baker, co-host of the podcast ‘From the Yarra River to the Mediterranean Sea’, and Tahlia Bowen, member of the Jewish Greens will discuss issues arising from the documentary through the lens of progressive Judaism in Australia, including an update regarding the current post October 7, 2023 context.
